WELCOME!
Background
Corporate governance has been on policymakers’ agendas since the late 1980s/early 1990s after Zimbabwe attained its independence. Organizations experienced a wave of corporate scandals, most of which were caused by powerful CEOs who faced little or no resistance from their fellow board members. The scandals affected both private and public sectors of the economy examples of which included, automobile, mining, banking, agriculture, manufacturing and this fueled the debate on how corporate governance should be designed and regulated.
The above scenario resulted in some financial crises, first, in the banking sector as clear signs of weak corporate governance and perverse executive incentives schemes. These weaknesses in the banking sector highlighted the implications of corporate governance failures for the broader economy. This saw banks closing down and parastatals restructured. This has reflected the corporate governance skills gap resulting in the birth of Corporate Governance Solution Centre, GM Institute of Corporate Governance & Business Culture in ..(2018). It is upon this background that an outfit of this nature is critical to aid in bringing business sanity to critical sectors of the economy
